A. Try doing some exercise. It should be able to relieve the tension. If not then take a warm shower and try not to rush to get ready. Allow yourself extra time to drive to your interview. If you're rushing to get there, you'll get more tension because you'll probably want to murder drivers on the road lol. Good luck with your interview, I hope you get the job!

Did my massage therapist go too far?
Q. I recently had a 90 minute massage by a male therapist. I usually get an hour. I've only had a few massages in my life time so I still tend to feel a bit uncomfortable having someone touch me. However, all things were going well, felt great. He asked me if I wanted to have my glutes massage. I found it strange as all the other male therapists I've had never asked me this question. Anyway, it felt great. As he massaged the back of my leg I felt he was going way to close to my privates. When I finally flipped on my back and he started massaging my inner thigh, he went as far up as my bikini line where at one point I felt him touch my privates. I thought at first it might have been an accident but it happened several times more and the same… [cont.]

A. Incidental contact with your privates while working the upper thigh can happen and does not have to mean he was making a move on you. As far as getting wet sweetie - nearly every woman who has a massage that includes glutes and thighs atain lubrication to some degree. I have had some women become so wet they apologized because it was dripping on the table. I aways assure them there is nothing to be ashamed about. Relax and celebrate that your body works as designed. Pleasure often yields a sexual response and such is normal and natural. While no one can get in his mind to know his intent, I suspect that knowing you were wet - if he really wanted to try and seduce you he would have suggested other massage areas such as a chest/breast… [cont.]

Sports massage course provider?
Q. I'm thinking of taking a sports massage course and just want to get a little unbiased advice as to good providers. I have never done any sort of massage and would preferably do the course in as little time as possible, no matter how intense. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
Asked by jay - Mon Dec 14 16:05:20 2009 - Other - Education - 1 Answers - Comments

A. In the US you need to be licensed as massage therapist to be able to practice sports massage professionally. Massage school usually takes 6 months to a year to get through. You can then learn sports massage in a weekend and take a few years to practice it until you are proficient at it. Most massage schools have courses in it and can be taken as a part of your initial training.

Has anyone else experienced orgasms while getting a massage?
Q. I have never ventured to ask this, and have experienced the sensation with every massage I have ever had. It is not the sexually aroused type, just a pleasantly relaxed but still intense type. I truly need to have more massage done from a physical standpoint but feel like i've got this 'dirty little secret' thing going on. okay, iam going to say no more. Thanks for any response.

A. Whenever I give my girlfriend a massage, she enjoys it alot. I don't know if she can get what you are getting, but that would be awesome. I think you're just very sensative to massages, and that it (almost) feels like you're getting an orgasm. Its logical too because an orgasm is the relaxation of alot of muscles that have been tense from sexual excitement. I'd say bless you,.

prostate massage and impotence?
Q. I have tried to masturbate whilst doing a prostate massage with an apparel bought in a sex shop. The pleasure at orgasm was very intense. I did it for a couple of days. Then I lost interest and discarded the toy in the garbage. Now, two weeks later I have no erection at all and one day I have had blood in the urine. Can I have damaged something? PS I would like to add that now I have no erection at all. However the sensitivity of the penis is normal, no numbness.
Asked by - Sun Sep 18 23:28:09 2011 - Men's Health - 1 Answers - Comments

A. Not likely damaged BUT the prostate is covered with tiny capillaries that can burst. If there is infection (possible due to the foreign body that was introduced) or simply from having it massaged those blood vessels can bleed slightly and this usually appears in the urine. Push your fluid intake and see if is resolves. If the bleeding is worse or you start to feel feverish or have discomfort in the anus, testicles, lower abdomen, or perineum (the part between the penis and the testicles and anus), please see a doctor for examination.

Prematch football. How long and intense should massage be? best type oil to use?
Q.
Asked by fergie - Fri Jun 29 05:43:06 2007 - Injuries - 1 Answers - 1 Comments

A. Best type oil for joints and bones will be sesame oil. but in ayurvedic therapy, this sesame oil is mixed with mustard oil ( for men theraphy). But aromatheraphy massage is about what sense that you want to have. is it refreshed, calmed and balanced, energize, this kind of things. But to gain some joints and bones release, lemongrass do well. How long? it is depends on your body's state. Too much lactic accid means longer massage. Over 75 - 120 minutes can be a relaxing ones. Also the techniques are varies. A good massage means: you will fallen asleep during the massage. A bad one means you will feel tense during and after a massage. Go to asian masseus as they have more sensual touch which means more relaxing and enjoyable.

Why does painful stretching and massage feel so good?
Q. I love really painful stretching and massage. The deeper, the more muscle-wrenching, the better. Yet, I'm no masochist: I shy away from most other kinds of pain, especially of the whips-and-leather variety. It's only intense muscle work that feels so good. Why do you think this is the case?
Asked by CS - Thu Nov 13 13:20:01 2008 - Other - Health - 3 Answers - Comments

A. It relieves the tension in your muscles even though you didn't know they were there. It helps your body feel more relaxed and free instead of restrained. Your body is loaded with tension and when you stretch or get a massage it helps alleviates it. Sometimes making you feel rejuvenated =] It also helps rid toxins. It also helps to produce endorphins which are the happy hormone ^_^ Hope I helped.

I'm looking into massage schools?
Q. I am a full time college student but I also want to get licensed in massage therapy. I am looking for a school that will let me get my certification over a summer since I cant do it during the school year. I know that normal certification takes 6 months on avg. but I want to find a school that will let me "overload" and take an intense summer of classes so that I can get certified. Can someone please help me with finding this school? Location can be anywhere.

A. Ok, well I have a great answer to your question... I would use an online resource to find the right school for you. You should look into putting in your zip code and accumulating possible schools that are in your area. I'm a massage therapist and I used to find what I was looking for. They'll hook you up with some free information. One possibility is even doing online training.. you can actually take online classes on massage therapy which would be really convenient. I'm sure you can find a school through them.. If not then continue doing research on the topic. The internet is a great resource for finding a good accredited school. Don't go to a non-accredited place because it will come back to bite you... Trust me. Hope this helped! -Chris

Deep tissue or swedish massage?
Q. I'm taking my boyfriend to a spa to get a couples massage done for our two year anniversary. The reason I thought of this gift is because he's always got back pain and is always stressed about work and stuff. I was wondering which massage would be best for us? Most people say that a Swedish massage is best for beginners, and we are... this will be our first massage. but some people say a Swedish massage is just really light pressure and Idk if we would want that. His back really does hurt sometimes and it sucks to see him in pain. However, I'm wondering if a deep tissue massage is too intense for us... so I'm really indecisive. Anyone have any advice?

okay to massage pregnant wife?
Q. I want to give my wife a massage. She's 4 months pregnant. Not planning any intense deep tissue thing but have read online how massages can induce labor, or how certain oils might be harmful. Seems way too complicated. Any guidelines or a place to find info??

A. Sure wish you were my hubby!! I'm so jealous :) I have never heard of massages inducing labor. Maybe much further on, but not right now. Especially when many women do go to massage therapy during pregnancy to help the aches and pains. A nice back or foot rub will help her out a lot. And you don't need to really use an oil, you could try one of the vitamin E lotions instead. And if you apply the lotion to her entire body, it will help reduce stretch marks too. If you wanted to use an oil, try baby oil. Many women also rub that on to reduce stretch marks so it would be safe to use for a massage. I think that would be your best bet. Find something that women use during pregnancy to reduce stretch marks, and massage her with that. And if you… [cont.]

Headaches on bottom left side of head?
Q. I keep getting these really intense headaches on the side of my head, right below and behind my left ear. They are very intense. Medicine, massaging it and soaking in the tub do not help. I have been getting them for the past few weeks. They are really bad. The are seems a bit swollen, so much so that putting my glasses on hurts, but it could be the pressure or me exaggerating. I have no light or sound sensitivity with them, just slight diziness and nausea. Any ideas what causes them?

A. I had a long period of that sort of thing that ended about a month ago. I certainly say go to the Doctor as I did, after all, I was getting frightened even, blood tests didn't show anything dangerous not that I think it would have been conclusive. Fact is too much time spent on this computer sitting in the wrong way may be behind it, I went away on a short holiday and the trouble stopped a while. Dizziness and nausea can be stress/Anxiety...I think you should get advice properly though Good luck!

Can I have some advise for a neck problem?
Q. 1 day ago, my neck all of a sudden started hurting while I was in the shower. It feels like it's a muscular problem so I tried heat, blue stop (it's like icy-hot) and massage and it hasn't helped that much. The pain is somewhat intense. I can't turn my neck to the left or tilt it that way ether. Any methods of relieving pain would be great, or even a way to put a stop to it. Thanks.

A. OK the most common cause of neck pain like this is due to a joint misalignment. This causes the muscles to strain and causes pain. You really should see a chiropractor. They can help realign your neck, help the muscles to relax and then the pain should subside. I really wish you the best

What type of massage is best for shoulder and back tension?
Q. I've never gotten a professional massage before, and I'm trying to figure out what kind would be best for my situation. I'm a musician with bad neck, shoulder, and back tension. Would a deep tissue massage be too intense for a first-timer? What is a reasonable price for a 45-60 min massage?
Asked by Christine - Sun Oct 5 16:14:54 2008 - Alternative Medicine - 4 Answers - 1 Comments

A. For getting a massage for the first time deep tissue will leave you sore. The soreness comes from the lactic acid that is accumulated from contracted muscles not getting enough oxygen which in turn causes knots or adhesions. When you are tense all the time we take shorter breaths and you're body stays positioned in one place for too long. Get a therapeutic or customized massage meaning they adjust the pressure to you're muscle tonality and you should not feel uncomfortable. A resonable price for a 1 hour massage is $55- $75. I would suggest getting a 30 minute on you're upper body ( neck, back, shoulders, arms, hands, pec's and scalp) This is around $25-$45. See you're therapist at least every other week or once a month. Massage should be… [cont.]

Massage question?
Q. I am going to get a massage today from physical therapist' massage therapist in their office. I have heard that this is different, more intense at certain muscle groups than massages from spas. My question is this- do I get totally undressed? I don't want it to be weird at all. The physical therapist is my brother's best friend. I don't want the office talk between him and the massage therapist to be the weird patient that did the wrong thing. Also what else should I expect?
Asked by #2 in the oven - Wed Jan 16 15:55:51 2008 - Other - Health - 3 Answers - Comments

A. The therapist will always drape you appropriatly so that body parts that do not need to be exposed can be covered. Whether you wish to leave on your undergarments or not is up to you...they will sometimes offer you a gown. It depends on what you are comfortable with. They should never make you do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. Most likely, the MT will explain your choices to you prior to the treatment. The quality of the massage might be better than what you get at a spa...it all depends on the skills of the MT. There are plenty of skilled MTs in spas as well as physical therapy clinics. We have a very good one at ours.
